The baddest student in school

I was going to put up the “what I’ve done” meme, but discovered bolding in word does not translate across to lj, at least not on this pc. Piff.
Instead I’m going to share wierdness of the day – not especially wierd, but still different. The worst student in the school arrived mid-morning and has been hanging out in the staffroom since then.
Wierd no. 1: cool, rebellious students hang out with the teachers!
Wierd no. 2: one teacher was talking to this student about when and where and what brand he smokes. (reminder, I am at Junior High School, the _oldest_ this student could be is 15, and I’m at SCHOOL)
Wierd no. 3: said student brushed his teeth in the staffroom.

Nope, I will never ‘get’ this country. It does make for much bewildered amusement though.

Thank-you! Shall do when have more time. Have sleep to catch up on now, ready for more N&A time – I went to work this morning thinking I was going to see them one, maybe two more times before they left, I come home to a note detailing their itinery and they will be staying another FIVE nights at mine! Yay! *bounces lots* They’re going to be interspersing with day trips, an O/N stay in Kyoto (tonight), O/N stay in Nara (sat night), and a silly shinkansen day of exploring (I think they plan to ride the shinkansen as far as they can in one day! – I would be very impressed if they managed the length of Japan)
Yay for living in an area with so many good day trips surrounding *grin*
Yes, I’m very happy tonight 🙂

That’s great! The kicker is that he brushed his teeth there!

Boo. told me about you and your teaching in Japan-ness. So blame him for my sudden arrival.

Anyway, I’m really thinking of doing it for a year or so (Monash Uni’s program is looking good at the moment). Do you have any recommendations or hints or whatever?

Oh, and what you described there isn’t too far off what’s happening in a few schools in Australia, except that A Current Affair has been trying to bust everyone for it.

Hey there, sorry I’ve taken so long to respond. Got friends visiting from Melb at the moment – such blis to have a taste of home.
What’s the Monash Program? I’m on the JET program and can tewll you lots of good and bad stuff about it, and about teaching and living in Japan as well.
Had a quick squizz at you lj where you mentioned looking at going to Japan..not quite for the meditating on the proverbial mountain but something close – I can say it is definitely a good place to get to know yourself better, get to know what you can handle and what you can handle but wouldn’t choose to again, and maybe to learn what you like and don’t like about australia. Naturally, you learn lots about Japan too.
About to finish work, but feel free to mail me any qns/thoughts you may have. My e-mail is my lj username at wildmail dot com
Otherwise, I’ll just send you some random tips/suggestions once my friends have left 🙂
