Golden Week silliness

‘Tis Golden Week here – a string of public holidays all in the same week…golden indeed. Yesterday Ches and his friend, Justin, came down to join in the beach bbq with Blair’s Crew. (Blair’s Crew being the group of friends I ‘inherited’ when Blair left. I hook up with them all about once a month – great bunch of people)

Swimming was out as water still too cold – I could’ve gone swimming, not too different from St Kilda waters, but would’ve wanted a hot shower afterwards, not the prospect of remaining on the beach in the gathering cold for many more hours. So instead Ches brought out his practise poi and everyone had a go…

The bbq arrived and was duly set up

And Ches spun fire (all fire photos courtesy Justin – thank-you!)

Even getting down in the sand…..

I spun too – finally got the underhand weave, thanks to Ches describing it in such a way that actually made sense to my unco arms and head!!! *many bounces* Then I swallowed and breathed fire. For the record, kerosene tastes revolting. *screws face up and splutters* Not something to try again in a hurry. Fire water is positively delicious in comparison!

We celebrated five people’s birthdays last night – when we get together we always celebrate whoever’s birthday falls in that month. There were five for May! Presents were given out – an elaborate game played beforehand to determine who got to pick their pressie first, all pressies were in identical paper bags and involved fun, silly toys. There was even a cake!

We banked the campfire and packed up around 11:30 and a few people came to mine to keep going. We played the game which Hide was given, called “Jumpy Frogs” – kinda of like Tiddly-Winks but with frogs.

The challenge: to get your frog in the pringles jar (the snack I’d brought home with intention of eating!) Whenever someone got a frog in the jar, they became king and could order the rest of us to do anything. tentatores also joined in this game, after I introduced him via web cam to everyone and Hide and Kazumi got very excited by waving to the camera. He even got made king twice – I think whenever Naoya became king he would nominate someone who hadn’t had a go yet. The various things we had to do during the night included:

smelling the left foot of the person to our right – apparently mine was okay!

all taking off one article of clothing – note, the one sock removed by Justin and the shirts removed by Hide and Ches, and jeans by me (not a good day to wear no bra!)… (strip tiddly-winks – who woulda thought!!??)

a game of thumbs (everyone puts two thumbs in the circle and take turns calling out a number between 0 and the number of thumbs in the circle. When a number is called out, people raise their thumbs or not according to their whim. If the number of thumbs raised matches the number called out, the callee gets to remove a thumb. Play until just one person left)

dance – see Ches doe his best “C’mon now! Let’s all dance!”

tequila shots were also involved, but I was too busy shotting to be shooting 😉

During a ciggie break for Hide, Kazumi and Kazuki, Ches and Justin entertained us with their rendition of “Tribute” by Tenacious D. Then Ches caught some frogs getting frisky….

It was indeed a fun night

NB. I’ve been playing with photostitcher…please tell me if you like/don’t like the themed photos being joined. It’s my lazy collage but shan’t be repeated if people find it annoying or confusing to look at….

What an awesome party! I will definitely have to send you part of my brain and one eyeball in a jar so I can be a small part of these festivities…

Although, maybe that’s not such a good idea when there are drunk people around…

Breathing fire! You are the Dragon-Lady!

*runs around in little circles in frustrated excitement*

Thanks, I like it too! Wish I could say it was me… but it’s not. 😉

I have a photo my mum took of me swallowing fire which I’d love to make into an icon. Unfortunately it’s in a box somewhere in storage. Drat. Shall just have to beg Ches to take some photos of me swallowing!!!

But you can call me DL! Hmm..I would worry about what would happen to your eyeball and brain here…but I do like your idea of setting up webcam for introductions…..I usually put my laptop away for parties, but am thinking about how to set it up safely…
