More pics, but of here.

I went down to Ches’s on Friday and caught up with him, Stu, Todd, Brad and Jessica, which was great. Also met Zack, the new guy living next door to Ches, and some of the other newbies.
Then yesterday all us non-newbies headed to a waterhole which Brad and Jessica found over the summer. It’s further on up the train line, into the mountains, and about a 20min walk from the station.

Oh, by the by, I’m now putting copyright on all images I post, whether or not I think they’re worth it. Now that stuff has fallen through with the e-publisher, I want to share some of the images I’ve been keeping off the web. I can’t lock photo posts because a few non-lj people read my journal and enjoy photos too, but I don’t want anyone being able to take any of my images and pass them off as their own. I’m also taking someone’s advice and making them 400 or less pixel. I’m curious to hear if people think the images are too small or too big or just right – especially those who are still on dial-up…
I’m still experimenting and any comments about the presentation of photos will be appreciated.

PS. I discovered that when I highlight the area on a photo I’ve written on, it does a funky thing and reverses the colours in the image under the highlighted area. It actually makes the writing easier to see, without blanking out a section of the image. Anyone know how I can get that effect to stay? I’m using Photoshop 7.

FYI: Whether you state copyright on the images or not, you still have copyright on them unless you specifically state you relinquish copyright.

Rather than typing out the whole word “copyright”, you might want to use the copyright symbol instead: ©. (On a windows computer hold down Alt and type 0169 on the numeric keypad.)

As for reversing the colours: Somewhere in the menu will be an option for “Negative”. This reverses the colours. If you select the section you want to reverse with the selection tool first, it should limit the reverse to the selected area only. I don’t have Photoshop 7 to test it out on, but most of these programs are the same in general use.

Lots of love and *hugs*.

Thank-you for both tips – I spent a whole hour last night trying to work out the copyright symbol. I kept being tols the shortcut key was Alt+Ctrl+C. So as I don’t have a numeric keypad, do the numbers across the top of the keyboard work too?

Nor did I know that about copyright. I was also coming from the point of view that if someone has to cut part of the image away, they’re less likely to copy it….or am I just being way paranoid and over-protective?

Lotsa love to you too, babe

Looks like a nice little summer picnic spot, as long as the local fauna doesn’t invite itself too 🙂

Great photo of the bridge post too!

*hugs*

Yeah, sorry about that, hon. But it doesn’t change the fact that your work is awesome and that I firmly believe you could have whatever future you wanted in photography. At least now you can share the joy!

Great waterhole, too!

Hey Sweetie!

Great pictures of the weekend. I did some searching on that snake and it wasn’t a mamushi, but I think it was a yamakagashi (notice the bottom right picture) and if it was, it is a poisonous snake. Lucky us eh? The good news is that that snake is not an agressive snake and it is rear fanged. Either way, it was great to see you and it was a lot of fun!

Hugs Stu

Re: Numeric Keypad

No numeric keypad? I assume then you are using a laptop?

No, using the numbers along the top won’t do. They get translated differently by the computer. If you are using a laptop you do actually have a numeric keypad. It’s just hidden, or more accurately, it’s been put in storage until you actually need it. 🙂

You’ll find that the numeric keypad is a section of your normal keyboard, but you’ll have to press another button (on most laptop’s it’s the “FN” or function button) for the keys to be used as a numeric keypad. YOu should find the numers of the numeric keypad (and a number of other things) written along the front of the keys, usually on the right hand side in the U to P section (and going up and down from there).

To do the copyright symbol, hold down the Fn and Alt key, and type 0169 with the appropriate keys on the keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Love you.
