weekend stuff

Think I’m gonna start doing this more for my reference than anyone else’s. My weekends are suddenly getting a lot more interesting and full, and I need the reminder at the end of what it has been so filled with. Otherwise, as this morning, when someone asks what I did on my great weekend, I draw a complete blank and all I can remember was that it was indeed great.

Friday: Went with zen_cat to see Matt Elsbury perform at Pony. Very funny – liked his humour and take on the world and would recommend him. The only disappointment being that it turned out I’d seen about half his material on the Triple Trouble Tuesday. Still, the expansion on everything was well worth it, plus sharing it with someone who hadn’t seen him at all.

After that, yummy chinese meal in China Town, then a stroll along the Yarra Boulevard and a ride on the Giant Sky Wheel. The week before when I was there taking photos, one of the Giant Sky Wheel operators approached me with their business card to email some photos to them, and two free tickets for it. Sweet!

Saturday: A lazy sleep-in morning – think still catching up on sleep from the weekend before. Brunch at Kaleidoscope then back to zen_cat‘s where his roleplaying game made a fun background to working on a business card design.

Saturday night was dinner at Alasya’s. All my meat cravings and it hadn’t occured to me to go there for more than turkish bread and standard kebab??? Sheesh. Very good and very cheap plates o meat. Yum yum yum. Also incredibly fat covered so possibly a good thing it hasn’t occured to me before now.

Then was a not-a-birthday party which was an excellently chilled party, filled with many people grinning like mad at zen_cat and I….well, it could be that they were merely reflecting the grins on our faces…

Sunday: Another deliciously lazy morning. Apparently the key to being able to sleep in on weekends is to stay up very late and get into lots of mischief!

Knee was not happy so we scaled down our ambitions for the day as I had a photo shoot to go to later. After dropping home to medicate Ophelia (really, it involves much more cuddles and purring than you might think) we headed to Brunswick street for brunch at Retro. Yummy felafal balls for me – quite different from Felafel Kitchen but yummy all the same. Fortunately before eating we had discussed going to Chocolateria San Churro (incidently home of Melbourne’s most expensive chocolate) so I was able to leave almost enough room for the decadence of spanish churros dipped in milk chocolate. It defeated me this time, but next time… next time I’ll be ready. Or we’ll just have to keep going back until I do defeat it. Oh woe. *hand. staple. forehead. grin*

Late afternoon I headed off to Umbrella Revolution and Bosco Theater to take shots of the crew and the tents. With much thanks to tyggerjai for introducing me last week.

T’was a full weekend indeed.

I think everyone was delighted to see you both looking so happy and wonderfully wrapped up in each other. Joy is contagious, and you make a very cute couple. 😀

Oh, awesome. Can’t wait to see the photos.

Took the tent down today. Many moments of “Didn’t we just finish building this?”.

We Stripped the inside on Sunday night – dropped all the truss, took the seating bank out, etc, so there was nothing inside but floor. That took about 4/5 hours. Then on Monday we pulled the rest down – from 7 am Monday to 6 pm Monday. At 6 pm, we had the King poles dropped and stripped, but not yet broken up and put in the containers. Pretty much everything else (skins, side poles) was in the containers. So about a day and a half carny style, or 2 full normal people work days.

That’s a crew of 10-12.
