Techie question

Even though I am at work right now, supposedly *offering* tech support!

Anyone had any experience using Stone Works for Mac? I downloadeed it to make a GIF. GIF is made successfully but seems to be stored on the internet (???) where I can’t reach it and if I click and save, it only saves one image, not the whole animation.

It has been automatically saved to: file:///private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/GIFfun/amber/amber_1.gif
and has come up in the Safari window, which is what makes me think it’s on the internet somewhere. Does this mean I have to subscribe before I can save and view the GIF by myself?

and it is SUCH a good idea I had for this GIF….just taking awfully long in the execution.
Not to mention frustrating to get stopped at this point before I can even practise my newly learned basic website skills. *pout*

Other suggestions of how to make an animated GIF are also appreciated – though so far I like the look of Stone Works

The file location is on your local machine – I suspect it’s just that Safari is your default application for viewing gifs.

Try opening the location in Finder, and drag the gif to your desktop, which should confirm that it’s actually local.

Does it show up in safari as the full animated gif?

Think you might be right given as I haven’t actually let it log in to the wireless here.

Tried looking for the file in finder but can’t find it.

It shows up in safari as a full animated gif.

I’m reasonably certain that it’s working fine, then.

Though it’s odd that you can’t find it in Finder.

Do you have a terminal program? (I think Terminal is in fact built in to Mac OSX, so I suspect so.)

Try opening a terminal window and typing:

ls -l /private/var/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/GIFfun/amber/amber_1.gif

(without a line break)
Alternatively, see if you can change where Stone Works saves the gifs, in preferences or something.

But if Safari shows it animated, surely it is saved as an animated gif 🙂

You don’t need the Safari right-click save-as trick if it’s already saved animated, surely?
