weekend goodness.

I’m still humming from the weekend. Haven’t had such a completely good and full weekend in some time – where every part of every day is just great. Far too little sleep was had, but that was half the fun.

There were two birthdays, one a dinner on Friday night, where in the wee hours the birthday girl decided to challenge a gym-bunny friend to a wrestling contest. A table was broken and witnesses became adept at moving out of the way or putting arms up to protect themselves from two women careening around on top of each other. Muchly amusing.

Saturday afternoon was lunch with zen_cat at Lentil As Anything. Mmmmmmm…every bit as good as I’d been told. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere – I so want to keep the purple and pink couches!

Back home to wait for Traveler to arrive. In the perfect way that the universe arranges everything, he decided to hang out where he was a bit longer, which gave me time for a two hour kip to make up for the mere three hours of sleep the night before. teknohippi was watching Top Gear when we got back from picking up turkish food and he got hooked on that 😀 Such a cool show. Last week their comparison of a porshe boxster *drool* and umm…a mercedes I think, involved driving through an abandoned town setup, avoiding the snipers! Surely even non-car lovers would have to appreciate that it is a pretty special show! And the cinematography… Okay, dream job right there.

teknohippi and evil_hamster left and Traveler and I watched Iron Chef then decided to go to the birthday party for a bit. Well, a bit turned into not getting home til after 4am, and only coming home then because we were getting up at 8:30 the next…same morning! We spent much of the party catching up on the last three years and how things have been and where things are going. We worked out that we have actually only spent about 12 days together in seven years of friendship, but always feel so easy and relaxed and close in each others company. Same thing with Shannon, his wife, who I met at Uni when she was on exchange.

After lots of catch up we did then get social, met the new kitty and joined in a poker game where teknohippi, arienmir and I played up our cleavages to best advantage…best attempt at least. They were called Weapons of Mass Distraction! teknohippi also thrived in the trash talking. Absolutely brilliant. Best moment though being when arienmir became distracted by her *own* cleavage!

Sunday morning was breakfast on Smith St with Traveler, zen_cat and tentatores followed by attempts to browse photographic galleries, somewhat thwarted by them mostly being closed.

Sunday arvo was relaxed, “holding down the couches” as Traveler said. zen_cat and I left for an hour or so so I could do my swimming and we could pick up more meat and vegies to make the planned roast extend from the originally expected five people to eight people.

freud_au and arienmir joined us and arienmir taught everyone how to play mahjong and taught me the scoring for it. I am definitely thinking of organinsing a mahjong night for every second Tuesday. I want to start learning different hands, and get to know the scoring, and it is just so much fun to play.

So sad to see him leave, but so great knowing that he and Shannon live so close now.
