9:58 PM We went to Scienceworks today; first Monday of each month is a special school group free, children’s day for children 0-6. I saw it on the Little Melbourne FB feed and decided that we should go today instead of waiting until next month. Zac loved it. There were different surfaces to crawl on, steps to crawl up and down, angled surfaces to crawl up and down, big round blocks to roll around, lots of things to pull up on and of course, lots of children to watch. And this was just one small section of the Itty Bitty Gritty Town area. There is stil lots more to explore and the areas suitable for exploration will change as Zac grows. I bought a family membership on the way out as I foresee regular excursions there. After a very wet, confined weekend I am keen to find good rainy day activities. I’ve been thinking of checking out a couple of play centers but now I think that going to Scienceworks would be even better!
Recently I’ve had a few people “sympathise” with me over Zac crawling; saying how it is so hard when tgey’re this age and into everything. No way. Sympathies are not in order. Zac is crawling everywhere and into everything and it’s GREAT!!! I’m loving it! It is so much fun watching him explore the world and exploring the world with him, and it will just get better and better. I’m really looking forward to him walking and running and swimming and riding bikes! yes, he’s going to keep me extremely busy and active and we’re both going to love it

=====================
10:01 PM Zac is starting to say “goodbye” and “goodnight”! It’s a bit more “goo b” and “goo n” but it’s there.
He gets upset if Rafe or I leave without saying goodbye, even if we’re just going out to the bin.

10:05 PM We had a lovely game of keys through cat flap today. I joined Zac by the cat flap after he got his wrist firmly caught in it trying to retrieve the keys he’d pushed through. We sat on either side of the front doorway, Zac would push the keys through the cat flap and I would push them back. Zac loved this game so we played for a good 10 minutes – a lifetime in baby speak!

2:45 PM Circumstances are conspiring to give me my heart’s desire by making the”sensible” option unacceptable to me. Once all the paperwork goes through, personal belongings are picked up and swipe card are returned, I will proudly update my occupation on FB to Stay At Home Mum! Scary and exhilarating all at once. EDIT: Changes continue, mat leave extended for another year instead.

2:48 PM Zac has started carrying a toy with him while he crawls. Today he grappled with a round block the size of his head, trying to hold it in one hand whilst crawling – too cute!

I am so glad to hear that things are working out so you get to stay home with your lovely small animal and not have to go back to a stressful work environment, that is fantastic news!

And thanks (quite a bit belatedly) for the beautiful presents, I’ve always wanted a little red fuzzy suit but as I’m big it would look a bit silly on me and putting Oscar in one is the perfect solution – mega yay!
