that roller-coaster feeling

Someone just advertised their Fujifilm Finepix S7000 on an lj community. It looks real good. Can’t access DPreview at work. Anyone got any feedback? I want this so I can practise exposure techniques without the cost of running through spools of film. It will not be my be all and all slr digital but it looks perfect for what I need now. And would work out cheaper than buying Trina’s camera body and then having to get new lens. Must talk to her tonight, then compare the two online…..
butterflies in stomach
also any suggestions on how to organise payment etc so that I’m not sending $400 away, never to be seen again with no benfit. The seller is in the US.

EDIT: It was sold before I even got home. Doesn’t matter anyway cos it wasn’t a slr – just cleverly packaged like one.

You’d want to find an escrow service – they hold your money until you confirm receipt of goods, and then they pass on the money to the seller. They usually charge a fee that the buyer normally pays, although this is always negotiable with the seller.

This is NOT an SLR digital – the lens is part of the camera – they just make it look like an SLR.

What exposure techniques are you practicing?

I think that’s the camera I’ve got…let me check when I go home.

Thank-you! Second comment today *grin* I really like the photo but didn’t know what to do with it, until one day when mucking around expanding my icon collections.

ooh… thank-you for both tips. Unfortunately the camera has already been sold – the whole having to work makes me too slow off the draw. But I needed to check other stuff first.

Ahh, and knowing it was not an slr would’ve made the difference.

I’m just learning basics, getting to know what settings to use in what lighting conditions, what I can get away with with my camera and playing with different aperture settings. I’ve never ‘learnt’ photography, just picked up and started shooting. At home I’ve never had the funds nor time required to practise manual, and when traveling haven’t wanted to miss photos. But more and more I’ve become frustrated at not being able to make the photos I want but knowing there is a way. So my current project is to get the basics down, and start playing around with techniques. I have the money, the time and am in a country I have photographed to death – well, at least this region.

A digital slr would be handy cos I could see and compare settings as I’m taking them rather than having to write down everything, wait for development etc etc. Not to mention the costs. A friend is offering her camera body, a canon, umm, nop, can’t remember – a model about 3 years old as soon as she upgrades, but dunno when she’s gonna upgrade.

*mmwah* miss you darling! I’m having a “surprise” party next month – everyone must wear, bring or do something surprising. Would love to see what you’d come up with *grin*
