I wondered why I bought a huge bag of lemons yesterday

Turns out it was to finish my bottle of Porfidio with! It has indeed been a night of indulgence: kalamata olive tapade, semi-dried tomatoes, greek feta, smoked salmon, basil pesto ( no parmesan – hooray…very had to find), rye french stick, strawberries and Shafer Vineyard Cellars Riesling (brought back from Oregon). All shared with Kimberly – after having finally gotten everything together (this collection of delicacies was started last year sometime), I desired to share with someone.
On to check out the new version of an old gaijin hangout here and meet up with our boss, Thomas – the owner of MESA, an english conversation school. We got charged for the top shelf tequila which, when called out on, they couldn’t even find. Dodgy plus. Another bar wanted to charge us 900yen per shot (about AUS$11) – no thanks! So back to mine and my two nearly empty bottles of diff golds, and one half empty bottle of Porfidio. An interesting night indeed.
I quite like Thomas, but sometimes he can get too into how alike he and I are and how we both have some sort of je ne se qoir (never learnt french, so know that is spelt wrong!). Flattering for me, but not something I feel terribly comfortable with, I mean, way to make any other person feel included.
In other news, trawled the net earlier – much earlier – tonight…checking out specs of Canon D30 which is the body Trina may sell me. Checked out the Canon 20D today and compared to Pentax ist ds. I love pentax and I’ve got the lenses, but the digitals just don’t seem to be matching up to canons yet. Really hope more and more that Trina will want to sell hers. It looks good and about right for me. Just a pity not being able to use my current lenses for it.
Also perused the slr film bodies, just out of ‘what if’ curiousity. Of course the one that I liked the look of – Pentax MZ-S – is over $1000 for the body alone. *sigh* I am happy with mine, but there is just that much more available and it’s the little things, like depth of field preview and the negative storing info such as aperture and shutter values which would be really nifty! Not to mention being able to change metering perspectives and do multiple exposures. To be fair, I don’t know if mine does them or not…surely it must, maybe just a little more fiddly.
Tempting, very tempting….cameras nowadays have all sorts of whistles and bells! And I’m a sucker for whistles and bells. *shakes self out of reverie* No, must focus on digital slr, and accesories. Don’t need new film body. Have perfectly good one that I’ve been happy with (until reading about all the funky new stuff available) This is one case in which reading is bad for me. Besides, how could I stop using my current one. I canimagine a new one all very well, but simply cannot imagine not taking photos on my curent one.
*yawn* 5:40…definitely time for bed. Poor body, I’m sorry.

Sounds like a fun night!

For the record, it’s ‘je ne sais quoi” (I don’t know what). And yeah, I hate guys like that… if the other person is clearly not responding, don’t keep going on about it, especially if you’re not alone with them!

Thanks for reiki… temp is down and I feel a little better this morning. Still have strange lump in cheek though. And razors in throat.

multiple exposure

I’m not sure if you are talking about your digicam or your SRL when you’re wondering about multiple exposures, but if it’s SRL then just hold the little button you press while you rewind the film when you pull the advance lever. The film won’t advance and the next frame will be double exposed. Sorry if you already knew this! : )

Re: multiple exposure

no I didn’t know that – thanks! That’ll work for my minolta, but the slr I have here is automatic advance and rewind…haven’t found anything in the manual about being able to ME either.
