Cat Boy

It’s official. Our boy has cat DNA. Tonight while in the bath he was giving me lots of very wet cuddles and miaowing to me. I asked if he was my cat boy and he replied “ohkay”. For the rest of the bath, he continued to cuddle and miaow and say “cat boy” to me.

He’s currently going through a “mummy is everything” phase. He wants me to pick him up, he wants me to put him to bed, he calls for me in the middle of the night (testing my ability to follow the waiting time guidelines which were so successful at sleep school – a pitiful cry of “Mummy. Mummy. Muuummmy!” tugs on the heartstrings far more than a straight out cry). He runs up to me at random points during the day saying “Cudddllles!”, wraps his arms around my legs and snuggles my legs. After a meal he will say “Done. Snuggles!” as he launches himself across into my lap. Today I was folding clothes in his room while he was playing in the living room and I heard him say “Mummy? Where Mummy?”. He came looking for me and upon seeing me, he said “Cuddles!!!”, opened his arms and ran to me. We had about 20 seconds of cuddles, then he was content to go back to playing. It was seriously like a cuddle pit-stop for a quick refuel!

I absolutely adore it. I never imagined a son could be so extraordinarily affectionate. He’s gorgeous and I’m enjoying every snuggle, cuddle and hug – and loving that he knows all three words! I do wish that he was equally as effusive with R as I want R to have the same experiences. But I know that R’s turn will come. While it may be all about me at the moment, he is also hyper-aware of where Daddy is and the moment Daddy arrives home each night.
