Firsts
First job: Waitress at Koaki Japanese Restaurant

First screen name: Used both ‘Salsa’ and ‘AmberLou’ (before actually changing my name)

First funeral: My paternal grandfather, when I was about seven. No real memory of the actual funeral but I remember very clearly Dad taking me to where Papa died, and feeling for the first time the emptiness and finality and incomprehensibility of death.

First pet: That was specifically given to me: Indigo, beautiful big white tom cat who was an absolute shit of a cat for the first half of his life, then mellowed and became very companiable. But before that, I had a sheep named Grass-seed, and grew up with Mum’s cocker spaniel, Nanny.

First piercing/tattoo: Lobes when thirteen (very original). First tat was the cat, August 2001 – to celebrate graduation.

First credit card: NAB Visa, first and only.

First kiss: (real) Shuya, on a park bench outside the Kyoto Art Gallery – my first insight on how ridiculous and amusing the rites of love/lust can be.

First enemy: Samantha Baker, new girl in grade four – highlight of two years of teasing being the orange that she smashed into my face.

First favorite musician: Whitney Houston, when I was seven I heard “The Greatest Love of All” on the radio, really liked the message, and was hooked.

Lasts
Last car ride: Last Sunday, being dropped off home by a teacher.

Last kiss: (real) Feb 12th, Baz.

Last library book checked out: “Queer in Japan” from the Stonewall library (Stonewall is the spec interest group for Gay/Bi/Les/Trans JETs)

Last movie watched: (at cinema) The Return of the King – Long awaited, finally I’ve caught up with everyone back home! (at home) The Indiana Jones Trilogy

Last beverage drank: Nachan, apple and honey flavour.

Last food consumed: Thai green seafood curry leftovers.

Last phone call: (made) Blair – to organize returning futons. (rec’d) Shanta – checking if I’d finished with her Pirates of the Caribbean DVD
