books, books, books

I bought 37 books yesterday!! WHEEEEEE!!!!!!

There is a second-hand ENGLISH bookstore in Kobe which I have been wanting to go to for months, but have been unable to due to it’s mon-fri opening hours.
But, have just spent three days in Kobe for the Recontracting conference so was able to visit it yesterday. Just before heading there, I ran into someone else who had been there the day before and said it was very disappointing – very little in the way of real literature. This did make me pause, but I went anyway and I’m so glad I did.
It was a typical pokey little bookshop with books stacked high, double stacked on shelves and piles on the floors. After a couple of hours of perusing every single shelf, I ended up with an impressive stack of books for $120, plus $6 to have it _courier_ delivered to my house in 24 hours. I do love the courier service within Japan – so efficient, so cheap!
Now, I have enough reading material for quite a while – it’s times like this that I love the fact that I am a slow reader!

No real literature huh? What are some of the titles that you got?

If I ever make it back up to the mainland, you’ll have to tell me where this place is . . . as long as you didn’t buy all the good books anyway.

No, believe it or not I did show _some_ restraint!! Besides a good book is in the eye of the beholder – I spoke to someone at the conference before going and she wasn’t impressed at all with the selection. I’m glad I checked it out anyway!
It is very easy to find too 🙂
