Very nice! I’m proud of your formidable language skills. Now, for those of us who barely speak Japanese, much less read it, is there anything in particular that I should know about that top bit, or should I just show up on the 3rd at 7:30, half-naked with a bottle of booze in my hand?

All I can see is a whole pile of little squares!
But reading it in Japanese would’ve been wasted on ignorant me.

Just show up half-naked with bottle of booze!!!
Oh, and when I had it corrected I discovered a bit of 和歌山べん I have picked up without realising it wasn’t standard Japanese: the conditional form of 言う (to say). I wrote 言うたら when in actual fact the standard plain way of saying it is 言えば or 言ったら (the second being very casual speech)! I had no idea as I use the version I wrote all the time (in the context of ‘when I say blah, I mean’ or ‘ when you talk about blah, do you you mean/what do you mean?’)
My teachers got a great kick out of me using 和歌山べん and now I know one of the subtleties of it – it always stumps me when people ask me what stuff of 和歌山べん do I know…apart from the shortening negatives to ん or using へん instead of ない, I never know what to reply. いい勉強になった!

Yes, it would’ve been wasted on you as you already understand the concept of toga parties!! All the important details are in english..the jap is simply giving the whats and whys of a toga party and there will be pictures added…the english invite will be something along the lines of: toga party, my place, july3rd BYO!!!!
