Rafe had a look about him on Sat night… and I was thinking those very thoughts thinking that would be very cool and lo and behold my thoughts came real!

Grats to you both!

If you need help, I suspect I am going to be wedding planner extraordinaire this year. I humbly offer my servies.
*bows*

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 1:34 am

He proposed Friday night but we decided not to announce it on Saturday – it being someone else’s wedding and all! One of the hardest secrets I’ve kept yet!!! Soooooooo hard not to bounce at everyone and squee!

I imagine help will be sought and appreciated 😀

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 1:42 am

Thank you indeed. I have found a cat-monsieur of my very own!

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 1:47 am

Actually he proposed Friday night, we just didn’t want to announce it until after Euan and Christine’s wedding. But yes, it was very exciting sitting though everything thinking that it will be us in nine months time!

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 1:48 am

Thank you. Much luck will be appreciated. We’re planning for October – minimial time possible considering I have OS friends I want to invite 🙂

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 3:25 am

Quite possibly. I think fidning a photographer will be the hardest part for me – I want soem guarantee that the photos will be so good that I won’t look at them in years to come and wonder why they didn’t capture this moment, or that moment. lol.

However, I thikn my fiance will pry the camera away – he’s very good at making sure I put down my camera and actually participate in events 😉

kowariJanuary 29, 2008 - 3:37 am

AH!! My spidey senses WERE right!
Hence the looks. I was thinking “these guys should do this wedding thing”
Hence the drive to dads place.

It all falls into place! I am glad that my ability to pick up on body language still works LOL!

But yes – I am happy to help you in any way you need in the planning/organising.

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 6:04 am

Incidently, the drive to dad’s place had already been planned from 2 weeks, prior! They complained that we didn’t give them enough warning to organise anything. But we did arrive home to heart chocolates and a card on our bed that night 😉

halloranelderJanuary 29, 2008 - 7:17 am

Stephen told me on Monday at the convention. I will have to admit I was not surprised. 🙂

Congratulations to the both of you. Lots of love and *hugs*.

lukeiiJanuary 29, 2008 - 8:15 am

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 10:09 am

tell me about it. We have all the awesomeness right now!

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 10:10 am

I’m sure we will too. he is just the most wonderful man ever!!!! We’re just purrrrfect together 😀

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 10:10 am

Much of the happy dancing indeed!

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 10:11 am

Thank you. I know you probably won’t be able to make it, given we’re planning for Octoberish this year, but I’ll let you know dates as soon as decided, just in case!

gypsyamberJanuary 29, 2008 - 10:15 am

Oh, and ability to pick up body language is spot on, but I’m still amazed that no-one noticed the bright shiny ring! You’ll see what I mean when you see it next Tuesday 😉 (rafe expected that no-one would notice, and I didn’t want to take it off so we decided me wearing it would be acceptable!)

seedy_girlJanuary 29, 2008 - 7:16 pm

Oh yes, you will really have to get cracking. The hardest thing is going to be your venue, because they often book out more than 12 months in advance. I’d suggest that you work out your approximate numbers ASAP (so you can work out how big the venue needs to be) and start looking at venues NOW!!!

A couple of other tips:
– get yourself a file folder for all the bits and pieces of info that you collect with ideas, information, contacts, fabric swatches, etc.
– if you see something you like on the internet, write down the address, because there is so much there you will have trouble finding it again!
– Make sure at least one of your bridesmaids is the organised sort, as they need to act as your project managers for the day. No-one should be coming to you with questions about anything on the day unless its an emergency.
– Enjoy it!

Give me a yell if I can help out with anything too!

kowariJanuary 29, 2008 - 8:42 pm

I actually did, but thought little of it because… well… you wear jewellry and in our social circle people WEAR big shiny rings on ALL fingers. I can see it in my head 🙂 But I need a proper look.

*happy dance*

Ah and I have FINALLY got around to adding rafe to my friends list, and neef. Im crap LOL!

kitlingJanuary 30, 2008 - 6:23 am

Seconding offer of help

I am a clever organised sort 😉

gypsyamberJanuary 30, 2008 - 9:42 am

Thank you for the tips.

We pretty much have a venue, and at least the reception side of things is private so no worries about booking a place, thank heaven. Also have an idea of our numbers limit and are making lists now. It’s amazing how many family members spring to mind when planning something like this, who I don’t normally see!

A file is an excellent idea – I’m have had experience with how hard it can be to find things a second time, both in real life and online 😉

I have a super organised Maid of Honour, however she’ll be flying back just before the wedding. Hadn’t planned on any other bridesmaids, but Rafe’s best man may be good for being project manager for the day. Otherwise I may ask someone else to help in that capacity. Had totally forgotten that the bridesmaids can be utilised in such a way.

gypsyamberJanuary 30, 2008 - 9:43 am

Thank you. You will most likely be taken up on that – once I know how and where we need help!

derigueurJanuary 30, 2008 - 11:34 pm

I wondered when it would happen 😀

I am sooooo happy for both of you!!! You were absolutely glowing with wonderfulness when I saw you at the party!

*huge huggles*

orethuleJanuary 31, 2008 - 2:59 am
